ARLINGTON – One person was killed in an early Sunday morning shooting in Arlington, the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office announced in a news release Monday.
Kingsbury County Sheriff Steve Strande identified the victim as 23-year-old Remington Bickett of Arlington.
South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation agents were called to the scene of the shooting at about 5:10 a.m. Sunday, the SDAG statement says.
“Life-saving measures were attempted on one person found at the scene,” the news release says. “That person was pronounced dead while in ambulance transport.”
The DCI is taking the lead in the ongoing investigation, which is in preliminary stages. Arlington Ambulance, Arlington Fire Department, Brookings County Sheriff's Office and Kingsbury County Sheriff's Office are assisting the DCI.
Agents and Strande stressed that no threat to the public exists.
