BROOKINGS – The state is reporting 25 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in South Dakota Tuesday.
One of the new cases is in Brookings County.
Brookings County cases have risen to 4,235 total cases (one new confirmed): 4,191 of those people have recovered (no change), with seven active cases (up by one) and 37 deaths (no change). A total of 14,130 people have tested negative in Brookings County (14 new), and 137 people in the county have been hospitalized at some point, the state reported.
The county is in the “minimal” community spread category.
The number of COVID-19 cases in South Dakota rose to 124,377 (25 new – 23 confirmed and two probable) as of midday Tuesday, according to the South Dakota Department of Health.
Of the statewide cases, 186 are classified as active (down by 29 from Monday). As of Tuesday, 122,165 people have recovered (50 new), 6,933 South Dakotans have been hospitalized at some point, 29 people are currently hospitalized (up by three) for transmission-based precautions, and 2,026 people with COVID have died (no change).
The SDDOH website reports 360,486 people (619 new) have tested negative in South Dakota.
The SDDOH website reported midday Tuesday that 674,054 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to 360,616 people in South Dakota, as reported to the S.D. Immunization Information System.
In Brookings County, 27,336 vaccine doses have been administered to 14,773 people, the SDDOH website reports. As of Tuesday, 42.1% of the total county population has received at least one vaccine dose, and 49.5% of those 12 years and older in Brookings County have received at least one vaccine dose.
The SDDOH reports 55.9% of the state population age 12 and older has received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine from the state or federal allocation, and 51.2% of the state’s 12-and-older population has completed its vaccination series.
