Update on Edgebrook Golf Course
The program at the last meeting was Gary Moen, along with Jerry Johnson, giving an update on improvements and activities at Edgebrook Golf Course. Currently the golf course has seen an increase in membership, now totaling over 270 members.
A recent $300,000 investment was made into improving the drainage and water system, and several new programs have been added.
The First Tee program includes children aged kindergarten to fifth grade learning about the game of golf, as well as improving character and learning important life skills. Last year, 210 children attended this program.
Students of the month
At its Feb. 5 meeting, the Brookings Optimist Club had students of the month from both January and February. Celia Dobrenski (left) was the student of the month for January. She is the daughter of Tammy and Darin Dobrenski. Dobrenski is involved in soccer, basketball, track, Student Council, Choir Council and National Honor Society. She plans on studying nursing at Lake Area Technical Institute.
The student of the month for February was Pavleena Naegele, who is the daughter of Albena Yordanova and Dan Naegele. She is involved in theatre, art and the National Honor Society. Naegele plans on studying animation at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
