BROOKINGS – Gloomy skies couldn’t dampen the excitement of the crowd of Medary Elementary School students and staff at the Wildfire Cheer & Dance parking lot as they waited to start their trek to school this morning.
They gathered there for the school’s first time participating in National Walk & Bike to School Day, and they received special stickers for the occasion. Parents and guardians joined, too.
School resource officers helped control traffic once the kids got on their way, led by Alec Johnson, a mass customized learning teacher at Medary Elementary School.
Pictured above, Medary first-grade teacher Pam Larson helps cheer on and guide the students across 12th Street South.
