1:08 a.m. Officers attempted a traffic stop in the 600 block of Western Avenue. The vehicle attempted to elude officer contact and was stopped in the 400 block of Western Avenue. After an investigation, the male driver was arrested for DUI, elluding and various drug offenses.

2:09 a.m. Officer Page was dispatched to the 72-hour parking lot for a male asleep in the driver’s seat. The male was found to be under the influence and arrested.

11:57 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for illegal window tint and a registration violation. A small amount of marijuana was located during the traffic stop.

2:09 p.m. Brookings Police made a consensual encounter with two males in the Days Inn parking lot. During this contact, police service dog Gina was walked around their vehicle. Gina indicated to the odor of illegal drugs, and marijuana was located on both occupants.

Sunday, Jan. 26

1:33 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Sixth Street. One male was arrested on suspicion of DUI. A report was filed.

1:44 a.m. Officers attempted to make contact with a vehicle after it slid into a snowbank. The vehicle fled from the scene. A report was generated.

11:10 a.m. A shoplifter stole an item from a store last night

12:51 p.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. During the stop, police service dog Gina was walked around the exterior of the vehicle and indicated to the odor of illegal drugs. The driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

2:10 p.m. Theft of a Hilti Laser Level from shop; no forced entry.
