BROOKINGS – An incident Tuesday morning in the west parking lot at Brookings High School led to an individual being taken to Brookings Health System for evaluation, according to a news release from the Brookings Police Department.
The BPD responded to a welfare check of a person in crisis at approximately 11:40 a.m. Officers and school staff located one school-age, adult male locked inside a vehicle. After contact with BPD officers, the individual voluntarily exited the vehicle and was taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to the release.
Brookings High School administrators identified the person as a former BHS student. The release went on to say that at no time were students or staff at the high school in danger from the person’s presence.
