Rural Brookings acreage burglarized

BROOKINGS – An abandoned acreage was burglarized, with several items stolen in the past month, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The theft was reported at 2:25 p.m. Monday and occurred near 219th Street and 473rd Avenue south of Brookings, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said. The burglary occurred sometime between April 15 and when it was noticed on May 21.

“It was found that a suspect or suspects forced their way into the building through the front door. The suspect or suspects stole two Vexlar fish finders, a Black & Decker 14.4 cordless drill set, a Black & Decker 18v cordless drill set, a gas-powered ice auger with dirt bit, a Stihl hedge trimmer and a Skill chop saw,” Sebring said.

The items stolen are valued at $2,240. The damage to the door is unknown at this time.
