BROOKINGS – December 14 marks the closing date for accepting entries for the 2019 sculpture rotation opportunity at the Brookings Arts Council.
In 2010, the Brookings Arts Council began an annual sculpture rotation opportunity supported by the patronage of local art benefactors Bob and Jean Jostad.
The project funded an annual outdoor sculpture exhibition for an emerging sculptor, and under the mission of the BAC, “encouraged community connections through the arts by providing a supporting environment for awareness, appreciation, and participation.”
This “call for submissions” marks the sixth year for the BAC’s own Sculpture Project.
One sculptor will garner the opportunity to showcase a piece in front of the BAC building, the former Carnegie Library of Brookings, in a thriving civic neighborhood directly across from the Children’s Museum of South Dakota.
The deadline for submitting entries for consideration is Dec. 14, with the artist notification of decision by Feb. 22, 2019. Submissions should be sent to the Brookings Arts Council at 524 Fourth St., Brookings, 57006 and should identify on the envelope ‘Sculpture Submission.”
Forms can be downloaded directly from the BAC website.
