BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts presents the SDSU/Civic Orchestra in the “Breaking Barriers, Crossing Bridges” concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Performing Arts Center’s Larson Memorial Concert Hall.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Conducted by School of Performing Arts Director David Reynolds, the SDSU/Civic Orchestra will pay tribute to a number of significant music milestones. The music of William Grant Still, the first African-American to either conduct or have his music performed by a major American symphony orchestra, is featured.

The orchestra will also mark several important anniversaries of The Beatles, including the 50th anniversary of their famous rooftop concert.
