BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings has released the current status of Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department facilities that were affected by the storm on Thursday.

Some Parks & Rec facilities still closed

BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings has released the current status of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department facilities that were affected by the storm on Thursday:

  • Southbrook Softball Complex – The facility is closed until further notice. For safety reasons, the public is asked to not enter the softball complex.
  • Dakota Nature Park – The park is open for use. There are areas with some minor flooding; patrons, please avoid these areas.
  • Fishback Soccer Complex – The complex is closed due to excessive standing water on many of the soccer fields. The complex will be reevaluated for opening on Monday.
  • EdgeBrook Golf Course – The golf course is open for play today. Call the clubhouse to reserve a tee time at 692-6995.
  • Pioneer Park – The park is open for use.
  • Sexauer Park and Campground – The campground and park are closed due to flooding. The park will be reevaluated for opening on Monday.

For further information, contact the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department at 692-2708. Office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
