BROOKINGS – The 2018 South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts’ Spring Festival of Music opens Friday and runs through Sunday in the Performing Arts Center on campus. 

More than 400 students in various instrumental and vocal groups will perform in the annual five-concert musical event.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. A family package  – which allows four-or-more individuals to attend – is available for $30. South Dakota State students receive free admission with an ID. The purchase of one ticket admits its holder to all five concerts.

Tickets are available 30 minutes before each performance at the Performing Arts Center Box Office. For more information, please call the School of Performing Arts at (605) 688-5187.

The Spring Festival of Music schedule of events is:

Choirs (Concert Choir, Statesmen and Choralia Women’s Chorus)—April 27, 7:30 p.m., Laura Diddle and Andrew Robinette, directors;

SDSU Opera Workshop—April 28, 2:30 p.m., Emily Toronto, director;

Bands (Symphonic, Concert and Community/University)—April 28, 7:30 p.m., Jacob Wallace and Kevin Kessler, directors;

Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Combos—April 29, 2:30 p.m, Yi Chen, director; and

Chamber Ensembles—April 29, 7:30 p.m. Features the percussion ensemble, directed by Aaron Ragsdale, and string ensemble, directed by John Brawand.
