Twister time

BROOKINGS – Mr. Twister, who has been a summer entertainer at the Brookings Public Library for many years, was back on Wednesday afternoon to wow his audience of more than 100 children with a variety of balloon tricks in the Cooper Room at the Brookings Public Library.

The event was noisy as the room was rocked by cheering and shouting as Mr. Twister used colorful balloons and optical illusions to entertain his audience, which in addition to the many kids included parents and staff assistants from GAP, Headstart and the Boys & Girls Club.

There were plenty of volunteers in the audience ready to help out with a variety of balloon tricks.

Above, Mr. Twister shows off the big balloon hat worn by a girl who won a balloon busting contest with a boy, both volunteers from the audience. The girls have won this annual event more often than the boys.

Below, as the invasion of “giant space worms” takes place, several kids in big balloon-hats await rescue by “the space ranger” (not pictured).
