ELKTON – Two were injured in a rollover accident caused by road conditions Wednesday near Elkton, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred on Highway 14 near 214th Street, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
Esther Hernandez, 50, of Tyler, Minnesota, was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy northbound, Sebring said.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle on the icy road conditions. The vehicle entered the east ditch where it rolled onto its side,” Sebring said.
“Both the driver and passenger, 61-year-old Sandy Bloedel-Gudgeon (of Ruthton, Minnesota), were wearing their seatbelts,” Sebring said.
Hernandez and Bloedel-Gudgeon were transported to the Brookings hospital by the Elkton Ambulance with unknown injuries, he said.
The Envoy sustained $5,000 in damage.
Also responding was the Elkton Fire Department.
The accident is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
