BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings has started construction work on the Eighth Street and 20th Avenue Drainage Improvement Project.
The project area is on 20th Avenue, from the north side of the Village Square Mall entrance, to Eighth Street, near the Village Square Mall northerly entrance. Banner Associates designed the project, and the work will include new storm sewer pipe and inlets, curb and gutter repair, ADA curb ramps, and asphalt pavement repair.
The contractor for the project is V.J. Ahlers Excavating.
The construction work is estimated to take approximately two months for construction, which will depend on weather or other issues causing delays. The project area will be closed to through traffic during the project and detour traffic shall use alternate routes.
The city is reminding the public to be cautious when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction. City officials also thanked the public for their patience during the project. Questions may be directed to the City Engineering Department at 692-6629 or to Waylon Blasius at Banner Associates at 692-6342.
