BROOKINGS – After an 11-7 regular season netted the Brookings Rangers girls’ varsity team the number-four seed in this weekend’s South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association state tournament, the Rangers and coach JaColby Anderson are gearing up to trek north to Aberdeen for state.
BROOKINGS – When high school bowling coaches Kasee and Rick Hieb found out that Brookings would be the host of the 2022 South Dakota High School Bowling Association season-ending tournament, they both understood just what having the event at home meant for their team.
VOLGA – The Sioux Valley boys’ basketball team may have not shot the ball the way it wanted to, but the Cossacks took down Great Plains Lutheran 60-40 in the Region 2A quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
SIOUX FALLS – The bracket for the women’s basketball Summit League Tournament was announced Monday morning after needing to factor in national NET rankings to break a tie between in-state foes South Dakota State and South Dakota.
Flandreau and Deubrook Area advanced in the Region 2A Playoffs with quarterfinal wins on Tuesday night. The Fliers blew out Flandreau Indian and the Dolphins took down Deuel.
BROOKINGS – After the first quarter of the game left a sweet taste in the mouths of the Bobcats, the final three quarters turned sour for Brookings in the final game for the Bobcats of the 2021-2022 season. Brookings held a lead of 18-16 after the first quarter and was tied at 20 a few minutes into the second quarter but Brandon Valley outscored the Bobcats 52-19 the final 21 minutes and ran away with a 72-39 win over Brookings in boys' basketball on Monday night in Bob Jostad Gymnasium at Brookings High School.
SIOUX FALLS – The bracket is set for the 2022 men’s basketball Summit League Tournament. The tournament will be played Saturday, March 5, through Tuesday, March 8, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.
The Arlington boys’ basketball team kept its season alive as it beat Iroqouis/Doland in the first round of the region playoffs. Lake Preston and Colman-Egan both saw their seasons come to an end on Monday night in other area action.
BROOKINGS – Three South Dakota State wrestlers are seeded second to lead a group of seven Jackrabbits in the top eight of their respective weight classes as preparations continue for this weekend’s Big 12 Wrestling Championship.
