WATERTOWN – The Arrows used a balanced offensive performance to down the Bobcats 59-53 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ basketball game Saturday night at Watertown Civic Arena.

Watertown shot 42.9 percent (21-of-49) from the field, including 8-of-19 from 3-point range, and committed just four turnovers.

The Arrows were ahead 10-7 after a quarter, 25-22 at halftime and 43-35 through three.

The Bobcats scored five in a row to open the fourth, cutting the deficit to three points.

Watertown’s Blake Holden made 1-of-2 free throws and Parker Johnston buried a trey to make it 47-40. Brookings pulled within 47-46 on back-to-back 3s from Josh Sell and Riley Schafer.

A McClemans 3-pointers put the Arrows ahead 50-46.

Sell and Drew Cole both made 1-of-2 foul shots after McClemans was whistled for a personal foul and a technical foul. However, Brookings was unable to convert on its ensuing possession and McClemans connected from deep on the other end to give the home team a 53-48 cushion.

Brookings never got closer than four points down the stretch.

Soloman Bach scored 13 points off the bench for the Arrows. McClemans had 10 points, three as-sists and two steals. Cade Cummings totaled nine points and five boards.

For the Bobcats, Cole notched a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards to go with a pair of blocks.

Sell scored 14 points and Trevor Woodall 13 as both finished 5-of-10 from the floor. Seth Swedlund added eight points and Schafer notched six.

Brookings (2-9, 2-8) heads to Sioux Falls Lincoln and Watertown (7-5, 6-3) plays host to Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Tuesday.
