The East Central Board of Realtors hosted its fourth annual Beanbags for Backpacks tournament on Aug. 10.

The event raised $7,650 and all proceeds were donated to the Brookings Backpack Project. These funds will help children and youth in Brookings County who may not have enough food at home by providing them easy-to-prepare weekend meals and snacks throughout the year.

The Brookings Backpack Project is currently serving 480-plus children, and these numbers are expected to go up as school starts. The Good Neighbor Committee expressed gratitude to all the sponsors and teams for helping make this a successful event yet again.
