BROOKINGS – The Brookings Public Library is offering two online programs next week, focusing on beekeeping and poetry.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, on Zoom, John Zuhlke, owner of Little Shire Farm in Aurora, will discuss the basics of honey production and caring for a hive. Zuhlke will give tips on how to begin beekeeping by explaining the supplies one will need and introducing bees and how to care for them.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the library will host a virtual event titled “South Dakota in Poems: Our State, Our Stories, Our Poets,” in honor of National Poetry Month. South Dakota Poet Laureate Christine Stewart-Nuñez will discuss her work assembling the South Dakota State Poetry Society’s newest anthology, “South Dakota in Poems.” Afterward, featured poets will share a selection of their poems and speak about their experiences in the state.

Links to both Zoom meetings can be found on the library’s website or Facebook page.
