BROOKINGS – The Blizzard converted on two power-play opportunities – as Max Sasson scored both goals – to beat Austin, 2-1, in Central Division action on Wednesday at Larson Ice Center.
The Bruins got on the scoreboard 6 1/2 minutes into the game on Devon Fields’ goal before Sasson tied the game with 3:26 remaining in the first period. Cameron Teamor and Chase Brand earned the assists.
With just 40 seconds on the clock in the second period, Sasson found the back of the net for the second time as Brand and Teamor set up the score.
Zachary Borgier earned the win in goal with 21 saves as Brookings held a 25-22 edge in shots.
The Blizzard, winners of four straight, travel to Austin to face the Bruins on Saturday night. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at Riverside Arena.
