Brookings grabbed a 3-0 lead after an inning and never looked back.
Jackson Krogman surrendered just one run – unearned – on six hits and two walks in a complete-game performance. He struck out three batters.
At the plate, Krogman went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Maxwell Kjelden, who doubled, and Wesley Koenig both totaled two hits and two RBIs.
Jamison Honkomp and Mason Bebensee were credited with two hits and one RBI apiece.
Max Struck doubled twice.
Cole Mahlum, who walked twice, and Henry Hammrich recorded the team’s other RBIs.
Brookings (24-16-1) takes on host Pierre, which received a first-round bye, in a winners’ bracket matchup today at 10 a.m. The winner of that game advances to Thursday’s title game, while the loser plays again today at 3 p.m. in an elimination game.
