Saturday, May 5
1:13 a.m. Officers pulled a vehicle over for speeding in the 600 block of First Avenue. The driver was arrested for DUI.
8:45 a.m. Officer Jurrens took a report of a suspicious male in the 2000 block of First Street.
10:59 a.m. A vehicle was stopped for license plates that didn’t match the vehicle. The driver was arrested for substitution of license plates and no insurance. The vehicle was impounded, and a report was filed.
11:46 a.m. Officer Jurrens responded to the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue South in reference to a suspicious male.
12:46 p.m. Officers recovered a street sign that was found in a house after a party. The street sign will be returned to the Street Department.
Sunday, May 6
7:46 a.m. Officer Weinrich took a report of the theft of a ring at the Brookings Police Department. An investigation is pending.
1:20 p.m. Officer Jurrens responded to a family dispute in the 1100 block of Forest Street.
8:25 p.m. Officers received a call for a male with marijuana in the 600 block of 32nd Avenue. The male was arrested.
Monday, May 7
4:34 p.m. A report was filed in regard to items stolen from a vehicle.
8:37 p.m. Mental health related
Tuesday, May 8
7:50 a.m. Non-injury accident
1:57 p.m. Officer Schneider received a referral from the Department of Social Services in regard to possible abuse. A report was generated.
8:42 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of 22nd Avenue for a two-vehicle, non-injury crash. A report was filed.
8:56 p.m. Officer Franklin responded to the 700 block of Eighth Street South for the report of a theft.
Wednesday, May 9
8:49 a.m. A report was filed with the Brookings Police Department in regard to a sexual assault that occurred several years prior. The investigation is ongoing.
3:37 p.m. Sgt. Bush stopped a motorcycle for no eye protection. It was found that the driver did not have a motorcycle license or insurance. Citations were issued, the motorcycle was impounded and a report was filed.
3:42 p.m. Officer Popp took a report of harassment. A report was filed.
5:55 p.m. Officers responded to the 1000 block of Main Avenue in response to a report of a domestic disturbance. A report was taken.
Thursday, May 10
6:04 a.m. Officer Weinrich was requested to the 1900 block of 12th Street South for a report of damage to a vehicle. An investigation was pending.
8:56 a.m. Officers were notified of a juvenile runaway located in Brookings. The juvenile was found and transported to the police department, and other accommodations were found for him.
12:47 p.m. Officer Weets conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Third Street South. The driver was later issued citations for two infractions.
9:38 p.m. Possession or use of drug paraphernalia; ingest, inhale substance to become intoxicated; ingestion of a controlled drug or substance as felony; possession of a controlled substance
