Wednesday, May 30
12:21 p.m. Officer Jurrens stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Eighth Street South. The vehicle was towed, and the driver was cited for maintenance of financial responsibility, driving with a suspended license, and expired license plates.
5:29 p.m. Officer Asmus was dispatched to the 1700 block of Eighth Street South for a two-vehicle, non-injury accident with air bag deployment. A state accident report was filed and citations issued.
6:39 p.m. Simple assault; stalking; threatening or harassing contacts by telephone or electronic device
7:13 p.m. Officers responded to the 100 block of 17th Avenue South in reference to a vehicle vandalism. There are no suspects at this time.
Thursday, May 31
4:13 p.m. Petty theft, less than $400
6:52 p.m. Officer Franklin responded to a two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the 1000 block of Castlewood Drive.
Friday, June 1
7:12 a.m. Officer Asmus responded to the 500 block of Summit Pass for a two-vehicle, non-injury accident. A state accident report was filed, and a citation was issued for careless driving.
9:55 a.m. Officer Bonnema responded to the Nature Park for a male slumped over behind the wheel of his vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUI.
3:02 p.m. Two individuals reported possible child pornography violations. The incident is being investigated.
8:43 p.m. Officer Warkenthien took a report of theft. An investigation was made, and two juveniles were issued a citation for petty theft. A juvenile report has been filed.
Saturday, June 2
3:59 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Third Avenue for a juvenile who was visibly intoxicated. The juvenile was seen by medical professionals, cited for underage consumption and released to a parent. A report was filed.
8:37 a.m. Intentional damage to property, $400 or less
2:15 p.m. Grand theft
2:24 p.m. The Brookings Police Department received a report of a male who got into an argument while playing basketball and threatened other players by displaying the handgun. The suspect has been identified, and an investigation is ongoing.
Sunday, June 3
5:59 p.m. Simple assault domestic; simple assault domestic intimidation
9:47 p.m. Officers responded to a crash in the 400 block of Sixth Street
Monday, June 4
9:30 a.m. Distribute/manufacture of controlled drug
11:38 a.m. Detective Smith took a report of a bond violation.
12:11 p.m. Death/coroner
1:08 p.m. Grand theft, over $1,000
5:12 p.m. Simple assault intimidation
7:52 p.m. Officer DeJong observed a male driving a lawn mower in the 400 block of Sixth Street in the wrong direction on the roadway. A report was filed.
Tuesday, June 5
4:59 a.m. Officers took a report of an individual looking through the complainant’s window during the early morning hours. A report was filed.
8:46 a.m. Officer Bonnema stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The juvenile driver was charged on complaint for possession of marijuana.
12:59 p.m. The Brookings Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred in the 700 block of 22nd Avenue. A report was completed.
4:14 p.m. Detective Smith took a report of a weapons law violation.
6:33 p.m. Officer Warkenthien responded to the 1400 block of Pactola Cove for a report of a burglary. An investigation was made, and a report has filed for documentation.
