Brookings City Council

It is possible that at least four city council members may be present for a Visit Brookings presentation that will be held Tuesday, May 28, from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at the Larson Ice Center. Though a majority of City Council members may be present, no official city business will be acted upon.

Brookings City Council

The Brookings City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Brookings City & County Government Center at 520 Third St. Items on the agenda include:

• Approve agenda

• Open forum

• Approve minutes

• Action on city council ex-officio appointments.

• Action on a resolution authorizing the Brookings Summer Arts Festival Committee to have exclusive use of Pioneer Park from July 8-16

• Action on a resolution amending the consolidated fee schedule

• Pinning ceremony for Brookings Police Department full-time officers and lead dispatchers

• Presentation: Brookings Police Department Foundation

• First-quarter financial report

• Action on a resolution authorizing the city manager to approve Amendment No. 3 for the 20th Street South BUILD Project

• Introduction and first reading on an ordinance to Rezone 615, 618, 622, 626 and 628 Campanile Ave. and 1310 7th St. from Residence R-2 two-family district to Planned Development District with Residence R-3 apartment underlying district. Public hearing: June 11

• Introduction and first reading on an ordinance to permit by conditional use an apartment in the Parkdale Home Addition , also known as 124 and 130 Ninth St. Public hearing: June 11

• Introduction and first reading on an Ordinance to permit by conditional use a telecommunications tower on Lots 11 and 12 in Block 1 of Hillcrest Addition, also known as 1461 Sixth Street. Public hearing: June 11

• Public hearing and action on a temporary alcohol application from the Brookings Cubs Baseball Group for a temporary alcohol license for the 2024 Brookings Cubs baseball season to be held on at Bob Shelden Field, 530A Elm Ave.

• Public hearing and action on annual malt license renewals for establishments which have failed an alcohol compliance check within the past 12 months

• City of Brookings progress report

• City council member introduction of topics for future discussion

Brookings Municipal Utilities Board

The Brookings Municipal Utilities Board will meet at 11:45 via Microsoft Teams. Items on the agenda include:

• Approve bills and claims

• Surplus equipment to be sold – John Deere

• Water rate adjustment

The Brookings School District Board of Education will hold a workshop/meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday at Dakota Prairie Elementary at 111 26th St. S. Items on the agenda include

Brookings City Council

It is possible that at least four city council members may be present for an open house to view designs for possible future renovation of the Brookings Public Library and the Brookings Activity Center. The open house will be held Friday, May 31, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Activity Center. Though a majority of city council members may be present, no official city business will be acted upon.
