BROOKINGS — Help spread the magic of reading to kids! Brookings Area United Way is conducting a book drive from now until July 17.

BAUW is looking for new or gently used books for kids of all ages.

The books collected will be redistributed to children at various community events throughout the summer, including the Brookings Bonanza on July 20. Donate books at 908 Hope Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday-Friday, or email intern@brookingsuntiedway.org to schedule a pick up time.

The book drive is also a collaborative effort to help promote Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, one of Brookings Area United Way’s funded programs. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is another opportunity for children to receive free books, which sends children from birth to age 5 a free, age- appropriate book every month. You can sign up easily by emailing uw@brookingsunitedway.org, calling 605-692-4979, or signing up online at www.imaginationlibrary.com.

Brookings Area United Way is committed to fighting for the health, education, and financial stability for every resident in Brookings County. This book drive speaks to our mission statement of uniting people, sharing resources, inspiring hope and enriching lives for a stronger Brookings County, as we are ensuring children have access to books to further develop the ability to read.
