BROOKINGS — An election ballot hand count conducted Monday in Brookings County matched what the tabulator counted, Finance Director Lori Schultz said.
“Everything matched the tabulator 100%,” she wrote on social media on Tuesday. “Thank you to those who came to count. We will need more of you in the fall, so if you are interested give me a shout at the Brookings County Finance Office.”
The primary was June 4, and was canvassed by the Brookings County Commission on June 6.
The subsequent primary ballot hand count was a requirement of South Dakota law. In Brookings County, the 375 or so ballots from the Brookings Activity Center were reviewed, with the presidential and precinct committeeman 15 races counted.
The hand count took place at the Brookings City & County Government Center, 520 Third St., and was open to the public.
