AUSTIN, Minn. – Four different Bruins lit the lamp and Kyle McClelland made 16 saves to earn the shutout win in goal as Austin topped the Blizzard 4-0 in an NAHL Central Division game Saturday night at Riverside Arena.
The home team scored three times in a 6 1/2 minute span in the first period.
Dante Sheriff got it going on an assist from Noah Kim with 8:46 left and Garrett Dahm found the back of the net on an assist from Valdemar Ahlberg with 4:58 to go. Ian Mageau’s tally at the 2:16 mark made it 3-0.
Devon Field added a goal 3 minutes into the third as Ahlberg and Dahm assisted to provide for the final margin.
Brookings’ Jack Caruso stopped 38 shots.
The Blizzard (1-5-1-1, 4 points) and Bruins (5-1-0-0, 11 points) face off again Friday at 7:05 p.m. in Brookings.
