BUSHNELL – No injuries were reported in a semi fire north of Bushnell on Tuesday that caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to a 2006 Freightliner Columbia, according to a news release from the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at 12:33 p.m. on 478th Avenue near 209th Street. Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said that the semi was being operated when fire began coming from the engine compartment. The operator was able to exit the truck, without injury, until crews from the Aurora Fire Department could respond and extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, Sebring said, adding that the incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
