SIOUX FALLS — South Dakota State continues to reign in accolades from The Summit League as Lindsey Culver and Tori Kniesche were named the TicketSmarter Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, by the conference office on Monday. It is the second consecutive week the Jackrabbits have claimed both awards.

Culver earned the honor for the first time this season with a strong weekend at the plate against North Dakota State.

Culver had two hits in each meeting versus NDSU this weekend in the three-game series that took place in Fargo. In game one, Culver made the difference with a first-inning solo home run in a 1-0 SDSU victory. In game two, her two-run home run in the first inning served as the eventual game-winning hit as the Jacks defeated the Bison, 7-1. Culver produced another run and RBI in the game three 3-0 victory for the sweep. Combined Culver went 6-for-11 at the plate with three extra-base hits, three RBIs and three runs scored.

The senior outfielder has previously been awarded as a Summit League Peak Performer of the week two previous times in her college career.

Kniesche earned her fourth straight Peak Pitcher of the Week honor, along with her fifth this season, for her performance against NDSU. The Wayne, Neb., native had two complete-game shutout performances against the Bison.

In two victories, Kniesche allowed a combined six hits across 14 innings while walking and hitting just a batter apiece. She struck out 19 batters between the two games. An NDSU runner didn’t reach third base in either of Kniesche’s starts.

The Summit League weekly honor is the 18th of Kniesche’s career in Yellow and Blue.

South Dakota State will have a week off from Summit League competition. The Jackrabbits will travel to Madison, Wis., next to face the Badgers in a doubleheader on April 23. SDSU follows that with a single game at Minnesota on April 24.
