BROOKINGS – The Delta Dental Mobile Program was in Brookings recently and provided preventative and restorative dental care to 29 children ages 0-21 years who did not have access to dental care. Organizers say nearly $24,000 in care was performed.
The van will be back in Brookings again in October.
“We are so thankful for the partnership that we have with Delta Dental. A $2,500 investment per week from Brookings Area United Way is leveraged to provide the much-needed care in our community. We saw a wider range of ages this week than usual. We had 2 years to 21 years as some international students were able to visit the dental program. For some students, it was the first time ever seeing a dentist,” said Heidi Gullickson, Brookings Area United Way executive director.
The Brookings Area United Way partners with the Delta Dental Mobile Program through funding, marketing efforts and coordinating the dental appointments. To sign up for a visit, call the Helpline Center by dialing 211.
