BROOKINGS COUNTY — A Brookings man suffered injuries in a Wednesday rollover involving a dump truck in the northeast part of Brookings County near Lake Hendricks.

Tyler Fairchild, 25, was treated at the scene by Hendricks Ambulance, then taken by the ambulance to the hospital in Hendricks, Minnesota, for unknown injuries, according to a Thursday news release from the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office. The incident involving the 1996 International 4700 dump truck was reported at 1:47 p.m. on 485th Avenue near 200th Street.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in the release that Fairchild told deputies he was driving the dump truck north on 485th Avenue when it entered the east ditch. Fairchild was unable to correct and the dump truck subsequently rolled. The vehicle was carrying three tons of rocks and pavers and sustained an estimated $14,000 in damage.

Fairchild was cited for not wearing a seat belt, Sebring wrote, adding that the sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the incident.
