ESTELLINE – The Sioux Valley boys took first place and the Sioux Valley girls took second place at the Estelline Alumni Meet on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cossacks were one of eight area teams to compete in Estelline. Sioux Valley, Deubrook Area, Elkton-Lake Benton, Estelline/Hendricks, Flandreau, Iroquois/Lake Preston and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland were all in attendance.
Boys
Sioux Valley
Sioux Valley was the top team with a team score of 123. The Cossacks won four individual events. Donovan Rose won both the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles with times of 15.64 and 42.35, respectively. Mitchell Guthmiller won the 800 meter run (2:10.57) and Skylar Trygstad was the top finisher in the 3200 meter run (10:51.55).
Rose came in second in the 100 meter dash (11.53) and third in the 200 meter dash (23.66). Brock Christopherson came in second in the 800 meter run (2:10.60). Sioux Valley had two relay teams come in second as the team of Christopherson, Guthmiller, Carson Wosje and Brady Hiltunen finished in second in the 4x400 (3:39.24) and Trygstad, Hiltunen, Dorian Kaufman and Riley Miller came in second in the 4x800 (9:34.48).
Jakob Guthmiller came in second in the javelin throw with a throw of 122-feet-one-inch.
Elkton-Lake Benton
ELB came in third as a team as the Elks had 112 team points.
Nate Timm was the only winner for the Elks and he came in first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:04.11. Blake DeVries had a solid day as he came in second in the 300 meter hurdles (42.37) and third in the 110 meter hurdles (16.63). The relay team of Riddick Westley, Tanner Stein, Blake DeVries and Colt Beck came in second in the 4x100 (46.80).
Eliot Erickson came in second in the pole vault (10-00.00) and Tanner Drietz finished in second in the long jump (20-01.75). Joseph Nibbe came in this in the high jump (5-06.00) and Taiton Boersma came in third in the discus (127-01).
Deubrook Area
The Dolphins finished fourth place as a team (82). Jaxon Quail was the only top-three finisher in the individual running events as he came in third in the 400 meter run (53.41).
Deubrook had two wins in the relay. The relay team of J.P. Rogness, Landen Johnson, Jake Jorenby and Quail came in first in the 4x400 (3:34.11) and Devon Landmark, Verbrand Gangas, Charlie Olsen and Colton Trooien came in first in the 1600 spring medley relay (4:06.77).
Jorenby came in first in the high jump with a jump of 6-feet-two-inches and second in the triple jump (41-03.50). Dylan Rios came in second in the shot put (44-06.25).
Flandreau
The Fliers came in sixth with 65 points. Brenton Westberry won the 400 meter run (51.98) and Tanner Reed came in third in the 3200 meter run (11:42.39). Westberry, Paul Parsley, Micah Otto and Benjamin Klum came in second in the 4x200 relay (1:38.96).
Estelline/Hendricks
The Redhawks finished in seventh place with 57.5 points. Mattix Hausman had two second place finishes, coming in second in the 200 meter dash (23.44) and the 400 meter run (52.52). Cooper Schaefer came in second in the 1600 meter run (5:05.72) and Kyler Marson came in second in the 3200 meter run (11:17.36). Braxton Jongeling came in third in the javelin (117-10).
Other Teams
Arlington, ILP and ORR all did not have a top-three finish and came in 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively. The Cardinals had 22 points, the Sharks had 19 points and the Raiders had 15 points.
Girls
Sioux Valley
The Cossacks came in second place with 99 points. They had two individual winners as Adison Renkly came in first in the 100 meter hurdles (16.64) and Isabelle Bloker won the 1600 meter run (5:16.77). Liberty Trygstad came in third in the 3200 meter run (12:32.79). The team of Maci Licht, Talya Vincent, Trystad and Bloker won the 4x800 relay (10:13.19) and Renkly, Vincent, Bloker and Abby Haaland came in second in the 1600 SRM.
Summer Guthmiller came in first in the discus (107-03). Emma Gorvin came in second in the high jump (5-00.00) and Renkly came in second in the triple jump (32-04.75).
Deubrook Area
The Dolphins came in third with 83 points. Nora Olsen was the lone top individual finisher for Deubrook as she won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.40. Kylee Johnson came in second in the 400 meter run (1:05.15). Kiana Schmit came in second in the shot put (35-09.00) and Zoey Molengraaf came in third in the javelin throw (88-06).
Arlington
The Cardinals came in fourth with 68 points. Chloe Raw won two events, coming in first in the 100 meter dash (12.14) and the 200 meter dash (25.40). Kaelyn Ulschmid won the 3200 meter run (12:16.27). Halley Miller finished in third in the 300 meter hurdles (53.54) and the 200 meter dash (29.02). Raw also came in second in the long jump (16-09.75) and Harley Johnson came in third in the long jump (16-02.50).
Estelline/Hendricks
The Redhawks finished in sixth as a team (61). Sadie Johnson had a big day for the Redhawks, coming in first in the 300 meter hurdles (51.03), first in the long jump (17-00.00) and second in the pole vault (9-06.00). Johnson, Emma Pierce, Kori Saathoff and Kimmy Schaefer came in first in the 4x200 (1:57.62).
Flandreau
The Fliers came in seventh (58). The team of Faith Wiese, Kiley Westberry, Ella Hoffman and Morgan Sheppard came in first in the 4x400 (4:20.01). Wiese came in second in the 1600 meter run (5:!9.39), Hoffman came in second in the 200 meter dash (28.41) and Westbery finished in third in the 400 meter run (1:05.19). Sadie Iott came in third in the triple jump (31-11.75).
Elkton-Lake Benton
The Elks came in ninth with 46 points. Ivy Jaacks came in second in both the 100 meter hurdles (17.06) and the 800 meter run (2:47.76).
Iroquois/Lake Preston
The Sharks finished in 10th (39). Adison Moore came in first in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:03.24. Hadlee Holt won the shot put (38-05.50) and came in second in the discus (104-10). The relay team of Amelia Holland, Moore, Faith Steffensen and Fini Kamps came in second in the 4x100 (55.78).
Oldham-Ramona-Rutland
The Raiders came in 11th (29) and the lone top-three finisher was Julia Trygstad who came in third in the high jump (4-10.00).
