Mielke also brought a baby snapping turtle to the program. The snapping turtle was one of the eggs that hatched when Mielke saved them off the road after the mother died from being hit by a car. The turtle taught the children that they can impact the environment by saving animals.
The Brookings Public Library’s next Super Special Wednesday of the summer features the annual Bike Rodeo at 1 p.m. June 7 on Kidoodle Way. Bring your bike and test your riding skills on the obstacle course, learn bike safety from the Brookings Police Department and decorate your bike for the bike parade.
