BROOKINGS – Due to inclement weather last week, the reception for Matthew James’ exhibit, “Golf: From an Artistic Lens,” has been rescheduled to 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, with James giving an artist presentation at 5 p.m. Refreshments and snack will be provided.
The Brookings Arts Council will exhibit James’ works in its main gallery through March 1. The collection showcases golf through a variety of art pieces.
As a golfer, James has traveled all around to follow the sport he loves. “The sport of golf and its culture has been rooted in my life since I was a young child,” he said. “At the same time in my youth I was drawn to art. These interests met, bonded, and have held a strong influence in my life ever since.”
The exhibit will feature print, oil painting, graphite pencil sketching, digital print, three-dimensional modeling, watercolor, and golf course architecture representation.
The Brookings Arts Council, 524 Fourth St., is open from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
Brookings Arts Council is a non-profit organization and for more than 48 years has pursued its mission of “encouraging community communications through the arts by providing a supportive environment for awareness, appreciation, and participation.”
