Grain dryer fire at Volga’s Farmers Co-op

VOLGA – A grain dryer caught fire at Ag First Farmers Co-op-Volga on Monday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 9:15 p.m. Monday and occurred at 104 Kasan Ave., Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“The fire was quickly extinguished and the only damage was to the grain dryer,” Sebring said.

The cause of the fire is believed to be an equipment malfunction and the damage is unknown at this time,” he added.

Also responding were the Volga Fire Department and Brookings Ambulance.

The fire is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
