ARLINGTON – Devon Heuer’s impressive season continued and the Badger defense posted a shutout as Arlington/ Lake Preston opened the Class 9AA Football Playoffs with an 18-0 defeat of Baltic on Thursday night.
Heuer carried the ball 18 times for 164 yards.
He scored on a 61-yard sprint in the first quarter and on a 9-yard rush in the second.
Heuer added 45 passing yards, including an 18-yard scoring strike to Miguel Campos in the third.
Heuer has had a hand in 36 touchdowns this season – 27 rushing, eight passing and one interception return.
The Badgers outgained the Bulldogs 387-99 in total yards of offense, including a 342-23 advantage on the ground.
Gavin Holland ran for 158 yards on 22 attempts. Byron Bumann had three receptions for 27 yards.
For Baltic (6-3), Sam Sittig went 6-of-19 for 71 yards, including a pair of completions for 49 yards to Jon Wilhelmsen.
Arlington/Lake Preston (7-2) is the No. 5 seed and hits the road to face No. 4 Miller/ Highmore-Harrold (7-2) in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Miller. The Rustlers beat Webster Area 44-20 in the first round.
