Jackrabbits extend win streak to 15 games

MINNEAPOLIS — South Dakota State extended its win streak to 15 games on Wednesday night as the Jackrabbits beat Minnesota 7-0 on the road.

Shannon Lasey improved to 9-8 on the season as she pitched a complete game shutout. She held the Golden Gophers (23-22) to four hits and had five strikeouts and four walks. 

SDSU (27-18) broke a 0-0 tie in the third inning. Alli Boyle walked to begin the inning and MAdi Conklin reached on an error. Mia Jarecki then hit a single to load the bases up and Emma Osmundson cleared the bases with a triple to make it 3-0. Lindsey Culver followed with an RBI single and that made it 4-0 through three innings. 

The Jacks added another run in the fifth inning. Conklin reached on an error and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Cheyanne Masterson. Osmundson then came to the plate again and ripped a double to left field to send Conklin home and put SDSU up 5-0.

SDSU then added two more runs in the sixth. Dumont led off the inning with a single and Boyle then hit a one-out double that sent Dumont home. Tori Tollefson then pinch hit for Conklin and hit a single to right field and that sent Boyle home, making it 7-0 heading into the final inning.

The Jacks had seven hits as a team. Osmundson was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Boyle was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Tollefson was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Culver was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jarecki was 1-for-3. 

The Jacks will host a three-game series with St. Thomas this weekend. The two teams are scheduled to play one game at noon on Saturday and then a doubleheader on Sunday, with the first game scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
