Judith Ann (Carr) Danielsen, 83, passed away peacefully at Brookings Hospital on Nov. 29, 2023. She was born to Donald Burt and Ella Jane (Davies) Carr on Aug. 17, 1940, in Huron, SD. She met her husband, Jerry Danielsen, when they were attending South Dakota State University and they were wed on June 8, 1963.
Judy was a graduate of Huron High School and South Dakota State University, earned her BA and MA in English. During her early career, she taught high school English classes in Lead, Hartford, and Cresbard. She taught second grade in Bristol. After moving to Brookings, she taught English courses at SDSU, then finished her teaching career as a sixth grade reading teacher at Brookings Middle School. She was a teacher to the end, correcting papers at the Estelline Nursing & Care Center.
Judy loved genealogy, reading, decorating her house, traveling with friends and family, and hosting family get-togethers during holidays. Her decorations and table settings were always well-designed and placed with great attention to detail.
Judy is survived by her husband and four daughters Anne (Mike) Rizor of Aberdeen, Ashley (Brent) Palmer of Estelline, Megan (Chris) Brown of Brandon, and Molly (Derek) Berg of Harrisburg. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren Emily (Ashley) Tuschen, Maddy (Ben) Swenson, Libby (Mike) Kobylinski, Hayden (Michaela) Palmer, Ellie and Maggie Rizor, Will and Matt Brown, Owen, Evie and Greta Berg, as well as four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Judy’s much-loved brother and sister Bob (Dona) Carr and Nancy (Lyle) Kraft, her brother-in-law Richard (Dixie) Danielsen, sister-in-law Sherry Danielsen, two nieces and five nephews.
At Judy’s request, there will be no service.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Brookings Public Library, SDSU McCrory Gardens or the Brandon Valley Baseball Association
