SACRAMENTO, Calif. – South Dakota State junior Kasie Vollmer finished 35th in the women’s discus with a mark of 158 feet, 5 inches during Day 2 of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Preliminary on Friday at Hornet Stadium.
Junior Rachel King was scheduled to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday night, but the race started after the Register’s deadline.
Three Jackrabbits are in action today.
Senior Mason Leiseth competes in the shot put at 6:30 p.m.
Junior Kyle Burdick runs the 1,500 meters at 8:30 p.m. and the 5,000 meters at 10:05 p.m. Burdick took 13th in the 1,500 preliminaries in 3:46.7 on Thursday. He qualified for the NCAA Final in the event last year.
Sophomore Bryant Courter, who is seeded 13th, competes in the triple jump at 9:30 p.m.
The top-12 finishers in each event from both preliminaries qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Final, which is June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore.
Preliminary action concludes today.
