Woodbine Productions, this week received difficult news from the management team of Leslie Odom, Jr., the star of stage and screen who was scheduled to start his Christmas Tour in Brookings on Nov. 30 at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
“Due to health and safety issues that impact logistic and production elements, Leslie Odom Jr.’s team has determined that the Christmas Tour will not proceed as scheduled,” according to a statement from his publicity and marketing director.
Odom has performed in Broadway, most notably as Aaron Burr in the blockbuster “Hamilton,” for which he won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. He also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2016. He has appeared in several films.
Odom has released four albums and a book, titled “Failing Up: How to Take Risks, Aim Higher, and Never Stop Learning.”
David Reynolds, director of the School of Performing Arts, expressed significant disappointment at the news and reached out via email and mailed letters to the nearly 600 patrons who had secured tickets already for the performance.
