BROOKINGS – Brookings landmark Mama T.Rex had some company this week at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota.

Following nearly seven years of being on-duty and facing South Dakota winters, she took a break for repairs. The three-day process saw the original lifesize T.Rex be lifted through the air Wednesday and replaced with a brand new twin that will continue to welcome thousands of guests as “Mama” to the museum.

On the left is the original Mama T.Rex, and the right one with the straps on is about to get lifted into place with a crane as the new Mama.
