BROOKINGS – A man was arrested for assault after allegedly throwing another man to the ground, according to Brookings Police.
The assault was reported at 1:04 a.m. Monday and occurred in the 1000 block of Western Avenue, said Lt. Marci Gebers.
Arrested was Dakota Ward, 24, of Brookings, on charges of simple assault. He was transported to the Brookings County Detention Center.
“(Ward) threw (the victim) to the ground by his jacket, got on top of him and threatened to beat him up,” Gebers said.
“The suspect was located and confessed to throwing the victim to the ground, and alcohol was a factor in that,” Gebers said.
An ambulance responded but the victim was not transported, she added.
