CLEAR LAKE – Sioux Valley’s Max Nielson and Deubrook Area’s Josie Olsen won individual titles at the Deuel Cross Country Invite on Monday.
Boys
Nielson posted a 5K time of 17 minutes, 22.01 seconds.
Canby/Minneota’s Anthony Wollum was runner-up in 17:30.72 as his team took the team championship with 23 points.
Sioux Valley (34) was second and Great Plains Lutheran (40) third. Estelline (131) ended up eighth.
The Cossacks’ Kelton Vincent took third with a 17:42.34 clocking. Christian Rosas Landin (18:10.15) was ninth and Aiden Mangan (19:40.46) 28th to complete Sioux Valley’s team score.
Riley Benning led the Redmen, taking 17th in 18:55.78. Mason Ramlo paced the Dolphins with a time of 19:14.14, putting him in 22nd.
Girls
Olsen was tops in the 5K race with a 19:14.58 clocking.
Canby/Minneota’s Grace Drietz placed second in 19:45.56.
The Lancers won the team crown with 10 points, as all four of their scorers finished in the top 10.
De Smet (34), Hamlin (47) and Sioux Valley (61) were second through fourth, respectively.
Arlington’s Tessa Nelson placed 14th in a time of 22:26.47 and Lake Preston’s Ashlyn DeKnikker was 16th in 22:58.17.
Emily Ford was 23rd in 24:10.38 to lead the Cossacks.
