BROOKINGS – The Nordic Souls Motorcycle Club recently presented the proceeds of its Poker Run to the Brookings Empowerment Project. Pictured are Nordic Souls members Chris Hansen, James Easley, Dan Rooney, Matt Scholl, Jake Weber, Mark Fromke and Jason Anderson presenting checks totaling $5,007.99 to BEP members Mary O’Neill (holding granddaughter Hannah) and Doug O’Neill.
BEP is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that provides support and resources to individuals who have persistent mental illness and their caregivers. Additionally, BEP provides community education to aid in fighting the stigma associated with mental illness and advocates for community and state changes in the mental health system. The Nordic Souls Motorcycle Club chose to support BEP because of its special interest in suicide prevention.
Further information about BEP can be found on Facebook (EmpowerBrookings), on its website (empowerbrookings.org), or by email at bep.57006@gmail.com.
