BROOKINGS – The Brookings Police Department conducted an alcohol compliance check on Wednesday night.
“Fifteen businesses were checked, one failed,” Sgt. Joel Perry said.
Casey’s General Store on Sixth Street sold alcohol to a 19-year-old buyer who was working with the police, he said.
When a business fails an alcohol compliance check, there’s a legal process it must go through, Perry said. That includes a potential fine and eventual loss of license for the offender if it continues to happen.
