BROOKINGS – President Bob Hurd, right, of the Brookings Optimist Club presents a check of support for $500 for the Strider Project. The donation will be used as matching funds to purchase a fleet of 25 Strider Bikes to start a bicycling program for kindergarten physical education classes.
The goal for all 25 bikes is $4,525. As of Tuesday, $3,350 has been raised. To donate, visit https://support.allkidsbike.org/hillcrest-elementary-school-sd.
Physical education teacher Austin Koenig presented an educational, informative and curriculum-based schedule for implementing the All Kids Bike opportunities for gym programs focused on bicycling. This is designed to help PE teachers fundraise to help pay for the Strider Bikes.
