BROOKINGS – Brookings Police Chief Dave Erickson, right, congratulates new Assistant Chief Derrick Powers at Powers’ pinning ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Brookings Police Department.
Powers was named the city’s new assistant chief on Monday and has served with the local department for 23 years, as lieutenant since 2007.
Powers fills the post vacated by Erickson, who was promoted to police chief in December.
