BROOKINGS – Brookings Police are investigating a burglary and assault that was reported last week, according to Lt. Marci Gebers.
The incident was reported at 12:54 a.m. July 21 and occurred in the 1000 block of Western Avenue, she said.
“The reporting party had stated that they were assaulted by a male who was known to them inside of their residence,” Gebers said.
“The individual who was reported to have committed the burglary and assault also resides in that neighborhood. He was not located at the time by officers, but we do know who the suspect is, and the investigation is ongoing,” Gebers said.
