BROOKINGS – At the end of the 2016-17 school year, Medary Elementary students enjoyed reading new books as they went camping in the library.
Shown enjoying the transformed space is Mrs. Bortnem’s third-grade class.
Library teaching assistant Lara Langelett provided a year-end break from the traditional school setting of desks and chairs.
For the week of May 15-19, the Medary Elementary Library was transformed into a campsite in a forest setting.
The camping experience included more than 500 new books, seven tents, a log campfire, and the sounds of nature.
Students are now ready to begin their summer vacation with a desire to read a new book in the great outdoors
