BOULDER CITY, Nev. – UNLV and Southern Utah outdistanced the field at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the 7,402-yard, par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Runnin’ Rebels shot 28-under-par 836 (282-279-275) in the 54-hole event.
The Thunderbirds ended up at 14-under 850 (289-285-276).
Utah State (286-302-290—878) and Oral Roberts (300-291-289—880) were third and fourth, respectively.
Host South Dakota State took fifth, shooting rounds of 296, 291 and 298 for an 885 total.
SUU’s Jake Vincent was medalist at 15-under 201 (67-67-67). He made two eagles – both in the second round – 13 birdies and a pair of bogeys. He went bogey-free in the final round.
UNLV’s J.J. Gresco (68-69-67—204) – competing as an individual – was second at 12-under.
The Jackrabbits’ Matthew Schaefer (69-67-71) – also competing as an individual – and the Runnin’ Rebels’ Jack Trent (73-68-66) tied for third with 9-under 207 totals.
For the SDSU starting five, Will Frazier (72-71-72—215) tied for ninth, Liam Georgiadis (72-72-73—217) tied for 12th, Jack Tanner (75-71-79—225) tied for 31st, Lucas Schaefbauer (80-77-77—234) tied for 42nd and Harry Duggan (77-84-76—237).
Individuals James Temple (73-72—75—220) tied for 18th, Noah Boraas (72-71-82—225) tied for 31st and Sam Batta (75-79-79—233) tied for 40th.
The field featured 61 individuals and nine teams.
