BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State wrestling team hosted its first home events of the 2021 season. The Jacks hosted Northern Iowa and North Dakota State Sunday and lost both duals.

BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State wrestling team hosted its first home events of the 2021 season. The Jacks hosted Northern Iowa and North Dakota State Sunday and lost both duals.

• No. 23 Northern Iowa 28, South Dakota State 13

SDSU had four guys pick up victories against the Panthers. Clay Carlson topped Drew Bennett via a 8-2 decision at the 145-pound weight class and Tanner Sloan won a 14-1 major decision at 197.

Blake Wolters notched a 13-6 victory in the heavyweight class. Cade DeVos rallied for a 10-8 victory at 157.

 North Dakota State 21, South Dakota State 13

SDSU led 7-3 after the first three matches.

Zach Price picked up a 13-5 major decision victory at 133. Then Carlson topped Dylan Droegemueller 8-6 at 141.

Sloan picked up his second victory of the day at 197 when he pinned Michael Nelson in six minutes and 28 seconds.

SDSU plays a triangualar Sunday at the U.S. Air Force. They will face Northern Colorado and Air Force.
